A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Mala Mahendroo, Ph.D., Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The Center’s mission is to promote cutting-edge, integrative research programs focused on reproductive or developmental biology, signaling, gene regulation, and genome function.

The research in the Mahendroo Lab addresses a wide range of questions surrounding the molecular events that drive cervical remodeling in a term pregnancy or in a preterm birth. We utilize mouse and cell/organoid-based models in combination with tissue mechanics, imaging and molecular or genomic approaches to understand fundamental questions that are clinically relevant. Experimental approaches include classical cell and molecular biology techniques, genetic manipulation of mice, genomics and gene regulation (e.g., single cell RNAseq and ATACseq, ChIP-seq,), imaging techniques (second harmonic generation and electron microscopy), proteomics and flow cytometry.

We are seeking postdocs interested in implementing computational and experimental approaches to define hormone-regulated gene regulatory networks that drive cervical remodeling in term and preterm birth. Using single cell datasets, we aim to understand how dynamic changes in epithelial cell states ensure the epithelia provide a customized immune and physical barrier during pregnancy.

Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and first-author publication in peer-reviewed journals. Demonstrated training in the area of reproductive biology and/or bioinformatics is preferred. We especially value motivated, creative, and collaborative team members.
