JOB SUMMARY
Serves as a lead operator responsible for ensuring reliable, high-quality simulation delivery across all programs. Provides operational leadership in event execution, equipment management, workflow standardization, and team accountability. Supports process improvement initiatives, mentors team members, and ensures adherence to established operational checklists and performance expectations.

JOB DUTIES
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere of mutual respect and professionalism to ensure psychological safety for learners.
- Maintains a commitment to professionalism /role models behaviors of professionalism for all team and individual interactions.
- Interacts with multiple disciplines to create trusting relationships across the healthcare organization and as appropriate the healthcare industry.
- With minimal guidance, communicates effectively with internal and external audiences, including presentation to leadership groups and committees.
- Aids in the prospective error proofing of our healthcare system through simulation; serving as a corrective action tool for RCA work, identifying latent safety threats, assisting in the remedy of gaps/near misses related to team communication, crisis resource management knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified.
- Provides leadership in clinical simulation operations by creating/ selecting appropriate scenarios and modalities as appropriate to meet learning objectives in collaboration with simulation team to include hybrid simulation events using low-fidelity and high-fidelity manikin and standardized patients.
- In collaboration with the simulation team, advises and presents to faculty/stakeholders simulation methodology and best practices with a focus on standardization and efficiencies to improve teamwork and communication to support patient safety.
- Develops, implements, delivers, and provides sustainment of various immersive multi-disciplinary learning opportunities.
- Supports the state-of-the-art educational and research missions of the institution.
- Collaborates with stakeholders in the development of scenarios in simulation for the teaching of learners based on educational standards, evidenced based practice and UT Southwestern Medical Center policy.
- May provide mentorship and/ or train staff.
- In conjunction with the simulation team, develops/coordinates training plans related to initial and ongoing educational programs that are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals.
- In conjunction with the simulation team as well as applicable unit faculty and staff, assists and provides recommendations in the development of scenarios in simulation to ensure validity and realism for the teaching of learners.
- Provides teaching, facilitation and/ or debriefing of teamwork and communication simulation sessions in collaboration with simulation team.
- Develops evidence-based educational materials and adjusts content and teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs as appropriate for simulation program.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of simulation program using a variety of assessments tools.
- Evaluates patient environments, equipment, and education gaps during simulations to identify safety threats and provides feedback to leadership for improvement.
- Develops and collaborates in the design of education based on educational standards, evidenced based practice and UT Southwestern Medical Center policy.
- Advances, supports, and leads team simulation research projects and utilizes current research findings in simulation to promote best practices in simulation design and operations.
- Advances, supports, and promotes simulation use across campus.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement, innovation & development of initiatives for the integration of simulation into clinical operations.
- In collaboration with the simulation team, partner with content experts to implement and facilitate simulated based training through the development of clinically relevant scenarios and process improvement activities.
